Why is striving for perfection in everything dangerous? (+ a new video lesson!)

Recently I came across an article describing the perfect day of a mother at home with her child. That schedule stirred up a whole storm of emotions and memories in me.. About how, when I was the mother of a baby for the first time, I wanted so badly to do everything right and perfectly, and how angry I was with myself when things did not work out the way they did in the books. The real child was different from the ones shown in adverts and films!

It also happens that we look at somebody as an ideal. It might be a celebrity, or a person we admire, or a more successful acquaintance. Having an example you want to aspire to is really quite useful. But only until you start being ashamed of yourself and trying to take something from another person’s life wholesale, without adapting it to yourself. In the same way, we sometimes create an image in our head of the appearance we dream of, while abandoning ourselves as we are right now and wearing goodness knows what.

But my clients do an exercise called “my perfect day”, after which they can literally bring their perfect life into reality the very next day. How do they manage that? And what is the secret here — why does somebody else’s ideal life remain unattainable, while we can realise our own quickly and easily? That is what the new video lesson is about! Follow the link and listen!
